Annual Bowling Tour Reports
2018 - Sinah Warren
This year we had 49 tourists travelling to Sinah Warren Coastal Resort and we had a great week. The weather was pretty good most of the time and the hotel and facilities were of a good standard. On Monday we played at Purbrook Heath BC who had visited us a couple of years ago and the match went in our favour by 110 / 109. Little Si was gratefully received by Clive Watson. Tuesday at Alexandra BC the tide turned and we were beaten by 129 / 88. Little Si went off with Myself.
On Wednesday we had matches at Chichester BC where we took a severe beating of 164 / 93. Their captain of the day was Kevin Ball who is the brother of Michael. Through most of the match I was expecting Little Si to be joining me again, however a late, great effort by Demmo, scoring only 1 on the last 7 ends proved the turning point so Little Si had yet another room to explore. The other match on the day was at Fishbourne BC and we ran out winners by 76 / 46 in a four triple match.
Thursday at Leigh Park BC was probably the most fun match that we had. They are known as the Friendly Club in the Park and that is a great description of them. We ran out winners by 118 / 119 and John Doody duly collected Little Si at the end of the match. They must be one of the richest clubs that we know as their President read out a list of fines for various players, even a fine for being 2 yards short or through and one for a bowler rolling his trousers up when he was too hot. It must have taken about 15 minutes to read them all out. We had a great driver in Chris who took non bowlers to various places and I understand taught some ladies how to drink Prosecco!!!
2017 - Croyde Bay
On the morning of Monday 18th September 58 tourists left a sunny Bredon for Croyde Bay in North Devon. Some travelled by car whilst 50 went on the Coach.
Having arrived at The Croyde Baye Resort late morning all tourists enjoyed a buffet lunch before settling into their rooms for the week's stay.
"We played 5 matches and the results as follows:
Braunton B C / Lost
United Services / Lost
Rock Park/ Won / Day Captain said we'd Lost but he can't count!!!!
Coombe Martin / Won
Barnstaple / Lost
The weather was good apart from one day when we played through rain.
We took a trip to Woolacombe one morning and most managed a walk on the lovely beach although some felt that the pub was a healthier place to be!!
At Barnstaple match our opponents were two players short due to delay returning from holiday. So we lent them two of our players. Moz Pullin was skipping for Barnstaple and Kate Young was the Bredon skip and it was great fun to see the competitive nature of both players together with great banter between them.
It was great to meet so many new friends and one club are coming our way soon and we will be trying to arrange a fixture with them shortly.
The standard of the Hotel was good and the food excellent and on Thursday night we were entertained by Elvis Presley no less!!!
One great sight was Anne Perry wearing Elvis's pants, she was certainly back to her best, something we are all pleased about.
Whilst travelling to matches we saw lovely sea views, particularly Saunton Sands and of course Croyde Bay itself.
Little Si enjoyed his holiday too and certainly got around and spent each night in a different room.
All Tourists enjoyed themselves and plans are now being made to tour to HAYLING ISLAND next September.
We would like to thank all tourists for making this a fun week.
MIKE and PAULINE KELLY Alias MARLENE and BOYCIE.
May I just add on behalf of the TOURISTS that without the expertise of setting up these tours and the managing of them on tour we would not have such an ENJOYABLE and Frankly Hilarious at times!! TOUR. So Thank you once again MARLENE and BOYCIE!!!!!
