Welcome to…
Bredon Bowling Club

Bredon Bowling Club is open to all ages and is a great place to meet, socialise and play bowls at all levels - from beginner all the way up to county standard.

We are members of Disability Bowls England (DBE) and welcome people of all abilities.

We have one of the best greens in the county (we can accommodate 7 rinks), alongside an active Social Club with a well-stocked bar.

We have a long tradition of opening our sport to all ages and abilities who would like to play Bowls. We hope you come along and enjoy our facilities.

Have a browse around our new site and if you have any questions or organise TOURS please do not hesitate to get in touch - we’d love to hear from you.

Bredon Bowling Club - Meet

Meet…

Bredon Bowling Club is open to all members all year round. During the bowling season (April - Sept.) most social activities are connected to the various matches and include raffles and competitions etc.

Other social events, throughout the rest of the year, include Bingo nights and Burns nights alternating with Irish nights. And the famous Race nights during the "closed" season.

We also organise an annual tour. You don't have to play bowls to join in - a social only membership is available too - so why not get in touch?

Play…

  • Monday League (2 Vale triples teams),

  • Tuesday Men's Triples (A & B teams) league matches

  • Concorde League Gents. (4 Rinks)

  • Concorde League Ladies (3 Triples)

  • North Gloucestershire League (Gents) on a Thursday night. (5 Rinks)

The Aggregate is a Friday night roll up for all members of all abilities.

Out of season, we organise indoor carpet bowls matches and the bar is open Sunday lunchtimes and most evenings.

Bredon Bowling Club - Compete

Compete…

Bredon competes in a number of leagues and our players often are on county and ENGLAND duty too.

We also regularly host many Touring sides - including the Leicester Tourists who visited Bredon for 25 years! There are also many opportunities for friendly competition against other clubs in the Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire areas as can be seen in the fixture list on this website under “Fixtures and Results”.

Why Did I Join?

“We were looking for something we could do together rather than sitting at home watching telly every evening. After seeing the banner outside Bredon Bowling Club advertising free coaching and taster sessions, we decided to make the call, and how glad we were that we did., within half an hour we had a call from one of the coaches inviting us down for a taster. The taster session was so relaxed and welcoming and with that we were hooked. We had no experience bowling but it made no difference and within no time we were included in games supported by the experienced bowlers.. This is our second season as bowlers and wouldn’t want to be part of any other club. We have been made so welcome by everybody, and it’s such a friendly, fun club. We are really looking forward to many happy years as part of B B C. In Short, a great Club, great People and great Fun.”
J & T Dean 2022

“Well were does the time fly it’s now January 2023 seven and a half years since I wrote, “Why did i Join”. At that time I was half way through my time as Secretary which seemed like a way of giving something back to the club. To say the club was a life line during Covid is an understatement. The help and camaraderie expressed during that time will never be forgotten under the stewardship of our new Secretary Ian Day. My wife still loves her friendly matches and hasn’t a competitive bone in her body and a draw is always the best result!! Unlike yours truly!! So if, like a lot of people after Covid you want a pastime that gives you Fresh air, good company and Friendships then give Bowls a go.”

“Having thought for many years that Lawn Bowls looked a lot of fun, my wife and I started our bowls journey at Bredon recently. We’ve been made so welcome and enjoyed some useful coaching sessions that have put us well on track to enjoy both friendly and competitive matches. We only wish we had gone along sooner, but look forward to the new season when we will be entering the mixed pairs at National level.(We are not great bowlers, but just fancy the challenge) We both feel it will be a great experience, so here’s to a long and happy bowls future with the Bredon Bowling club.”
T&L C 2022

“Confucius said every journey starts with a single step. The first few steps on my bowls journey are described above. Since then I’ve travelled a bit further. I’ve had the privilege of helping to introduce new bowlers to the game, captained the mid-week triple side and been a member of the management committee for a number of years. It has been satisfying to get more involved and hopefully add to the Club’s spirit of having fun. If you wander passed the Club, peered over the hedge and wondered what was going on, why not pop in, have a chat and give bowls a try? After all, you’ve little to lose and perhaps a great deal to gain.”
